This Good Friday, despite the circumstances and conflicts, pilgrims demonstrated their devotion in various religious processions around the world.
In La Paz, Bolivia, the procession of the Holy Sepulcher attracted numerous Catholics, highlighting its importance as it was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the country. This event, held during Holy Week, aimed to thank and value the sacrifice of Jesus, bringing the community together in an act of faith and reflection.
Meanwhile, in Santiago Atitlán, in the southwest of Guatemala, hundreds of worshipers participated in the procession of the Lord Buried in an atmosphere where Maya and Catholic beliefs intertwined. During this processional march, the figure of Rilaj Mam, also known as Maximón in Maya culture, joined the procession, creating a fusion of traditions and spiritualities that enriched the religious celebration.
These displays of fervor and religious tradition demonstrate that, despite any adversity, faith and devotion continue to guide communities in the celebration of Holy Week.
